Wireless devices that send phone calls-Wifi
is one example of a new technology that has been around for a few years now. It's hard to
believe that someone thought of this at first, but it's here now, the devices you own, work and
communicate all use Wi-Fi to function. Think about all the places you go with your laptop, always
having internet connectivity. Now think about your cell phone. You connect your phone to the
web via Bluetooth and the web to navigate to sites and perform other tasks.
Another one of the mobile technology challenges involves the hardware that is needed for these
communications devices. Most of the devices use Bluetooth or other such technologies and are
quite bulky and difficult to carry around with them.
Many people have questions about the
security of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, and the convenience of the connection capabilities
provided, however, it seems that the benefits of having such a device will far outweigh any
security issues or inconvenience.
Mobile Internet and Mobile Applications: Both of these are quite vast and have a great deal of
potential for the future of the healthcare industry. We are seeing the rise of tablet PCs and other
mini-computer systems that are used to conduct mobile communications. Think about this, if you
go to your doctor, what do you do?
You take your medical files, notes, appointment calendars,
digital images, x-rays and much more with you and get in there where your doctor is, in real
time.
This is just one example of new technologies being developed for use by healthcare institutions.
These technologies will enable doctors and other health care providers to deliver better and
more convenient services. Just think about the amount of paperwork that doctors need to fill out
every day. We all know that the longer it takes a doctor to write up the paperwork, the longer the
appointment or consultation, and the higher the bill.
These new technologies promise to take
some of the burden off of doctors and other healthcare professionals.
The challenges presented by today's mobile technologies are significant, but the opportunities
are also tremendous. With the advent of new technologies and wireless networking, healthcare
professionals are quickly learning that they can be much more effective in their daily operations.
Just imagine what it would be like to no longer be bound by the walls of a doctor's office, and no
longer have to worry about security issues, or dealing with the old fax machine or clunky
answering machines. All of these things and more are on the agenda of those that are looking
for solutions, and the mobile technologies are making that happen.
